The first international Kaunas Jazz Festival was organised by Jonas Jučka small group of enthusiasts in 1991. During the first festival the aspiration to expand Kaunas Jazz geography was noticed. Later on, the concerts of festival guests at other cities of Lithuania have become an integral tradition of Kaunas Jazz. Every year the festival changes the face of the city, hundreds of happy people come to the city enjoying the Jazz music.

The central figure of Kaunas Jazz 2018 is one of the brightest British soul and rhythm and blues vocalists Laura Mvula, who is going to sing to Lithuanian fans for the first time. The singer is organising a concert at Kaunas Žalgiris Arena on April 30, 2018. Her performance will be the biggest event at the 28^th festival organised in spring, which is dedicated to International Jazz Day.
