Teltonika Expands in Kaunas – a New Technology Centre of the Company Group to Be Established

ALEX Kaunas Innovation Park has welcomed its first greenfield investor – Teltonika, one of the strongest high-tech group of companies in Lithuania, is strengthening its presence in Kaunas. The company has chosen Kaunas as a new destination for its strategic growth. A conclusion of an investor agreement has been followed by Teltonika’s application for lease of a 4-hectare site.

It’s official: the first greenfield investor at ALEX Kaunas Innovation Park becomes Teltonika – a leading Lithuanian technology group, known worldwide for developing and manufacturing cutting-edge B2B Internet of Things (IoT) solutions. The Lithuanian-owned company, known for its industrial networking equipment, telematics solutions, EV charging stations, and telemedicine devices, is planning to open a new Technology Centre in Kaunas and has already taken steps to lease a 4-hectare site for the project.

“Teltonika has been operating in Kaunas for more than 20 years, and during this time we’ve built a strong and globally recognised business niche in networking equipment. With a talented team of engineers and a supportive environment for growth, we are ready for a major step forward – investing over EUR 34 million into a 15,500 m² technology centre that will become a hub of modern laboratories, automated production lines, and spaces for developing new innovations,” – says Arvydas Paukštys, founder of the Teltonika group.

The group has successfully passed all stages of the project evaluation. The expert panel confirmed that the planned activities in the development of innovative electronics and Internet of Things (IoT) fully meet the requirements for launching operations at the site. This opinion was also upheld by the Supervisory Committee.

Artūras Kazėnas, a representative of Teltonika’s investment task force, said: “This project successfully moved forward thanks to the fast and efficient work of Kaunas city institutions. In a very short time, we received all the support we needed to prepare and submit the project.”

After the  negotiations resulting in the conclusion of an investor agreement, the project now is one step away from launch — the final step is the formal land-lease approval by the Kaunas City Council.

“When a high-tech leader of Teltonika’s scale chooses to expand in Kaunas, it sends a clear message that the city is solidifying its position as a hub for the industries of the future. A company with global presence developing technologies for millions of users is choosing Kaunas as its next destination for growth.

This is a strong compliment to the city that offers solid infrastructure, strong engineering, electronics and IT community, and continuously growing pool of talents. ALEX Kaunas Innovation Park was developed with this ambition in mind: to host high added value projects and provide the 40,000 students of Kaunas with a place to build the technologies of the future,” said Kaunas Mayor Visvaldas Matijošaitis.

According to the Mayor, Teltonika showed interest in ALEX Kaunas Innovation Park at an early stage of its development. They recognised strong potential of the project and the value of its location, and when choosing Kaunas, they also relied on the city’s economic and academic capacity— the key factors for sustainable growth and talent attraction.

The decision to establish the Teltonika Technology Centre in Kaunas will support the city’s economic growth and encourage stronger cooperation between business and education. Every year, thousands of engineering, electronics, IT, and manufacturing specialists – the talents that innovative companies are looking for, graduate from universities and vocation schools of Kaunas. In parallel, this project will bring more opportunities for young people, offering not only internships but also full-time jobs.

“ALEX Kaunas Innovation Park is being developed as Lithuania’s own Silicon Valley, becoming a hub for high-tech, life sciences, engineering industries, and ICT innovations, where research, experimental development, and cutting-edge ideas come together for further growth.

With Teltonika as the first major greenfield investor, the park now sends a strong message for others to join by building clusters, which strengthen competitiveness and encourage cooperation across businesses. The park remains open to both local and international companies with most of its 30-hectare area still available, providing plenty of space for growth and new innovations,” said Andrius Veršinskas, Head of Business at Kaunas IN, responsible for investor attraction and onboarding at ALEX.

Located between Europos Avenue and Lakūnų Main Road, the park offers ready-to-build plots with full infrastructure: streets, pedestrian and cycling paths, illumination, and electricity, water, and wastewater connections to each plot, also offering a  central heating option. Gas can be connected if required.

Most of the plots range from 1 to 4 hectares, but they can be adjusted to investor needs — combined into larger areas or split into smaller ones.
