Kaunas is the winner of the Central and Eastern European Shared Services and Outsourcing Awards 2022

The first quarter of this year was quite fortunate for Kaunas in terms of various nominations in international rankings and awards. The city was noticed and evaluated in the international Financial Times rankings and was nominated in two Central and Eastern European Shared Services and Outsourcing Awards categories.

The winners of the 2022 Central and Eastern European Shared Services and Outsourcing Awards were announced on March 24, during an award ceremony held in Warsaw. Kaunas was nominated in the following categories: Emerging City of the Year and Best University-Business Cooperation of the Year with the project Ateitis – elektronikams (Future for Electronics).

During the ceremony, Kaunas was announced the winner and the city that demonstrated the biggest breakthrough in Central and Eastern Europe last year. The city competed in this category with three other cities in the region: Chisinau (Moldova), Debrecen (Hungary) and Olomouc (Czech Republic).

“Kaunas has been increasingly noticed and evaluated internationally in recent years. The gratitude should be extended to all Kaunas residents, and it is a solid proof that our city has chosen the right direction. The modern environment of the city is not only comfortable to live in, but also attractive for developing innovation, talent and business. Being among the best inspires to move forward and maintain as well as strengthen our position,” mayor of Kaunas Visvaldas Matijošaitis says.

This year, the expert jury noticed a unique communication project that successfully merged the higher education institutions and businesses operating in the city. This is a joint project of the public sector, higher education and business aimed at the purposeful development of talent. Ateitis elektronikams (Future for Electronics) was nominated in a Best University-Business Cooperation of the Year. This year, the award went to company ON Semiconductor.

2022 is not the first year that Kaunas has been recognized in these Central and Eastern European Shared Services and Outsourcing Awards. In 2016, Kaunas was awarded the title of the Fastest Growing Business Service Center and nominated in other categories. Two years ago – in 2020 – Kaunas also competed in the final for the Emerging City of the Year nomination.

Central and Eastern European Shared Services and Outsourcing Awards is an event that has been taking place for a decade now. It brings together cities and businesses from across the region to highlight the importance of the business services sector.
