Kaunas will celebrate the day of the Restoration of the State of Lithuania – loudly, brightly and actively. A large list of events is planned, which starts this week: film screenings, concerts, commemorations, free museum exhibitions. The main highlight of February 16th will be Kaunas’ gift to the whole of Lithuania, which has already become a tradition – the award ceremony “I am part of you” and an impressive concert.

17.00 concert “We sing love for the Motherland and people”. Performed by ensembles “Gilės” (conductor Benediktas Mačiunskas) and “Smaragdas” (conductor Ona Delonienė).

10.00 Visiting the graves of the signatories.

13.00 festive concert “Singing for Lithuania”. The ensemble „Sūduva“ (director Teresė Varnagirienė) presents the musical programme. Organized together with Dainava Eldership.

18.00 screening of the film “Blue as Orange Earth” (dir. Iryna Tsilyk, 2020). The documentary, awarded for best direction at the famous Sundance (USA) film festival, reveals the everyday life of a family living on the front line in Donbas, Ukraine. The film is in the original language with Lithuanian subtitles.

19.00 Festive concert and awards “I am part of you”. Free tickets to the event are distributed on kakava.lt (no more tickets available).

Location: “Žalgiris” arena (Karaliaus Mindaugo pr. 50).

11.30. Carillon music concert. The performer is carillon player Raimundas Eymontas

12.00 A solemn commemoration. The ceremony of raising the flag of the Order of the Cross of Vytis, the swearing-in ceremony of junior officer commanders, laying of flowers.
