The exhibition showcases the best drawings by Kaunas primary school learners, depicting their imagined Czech Republic.

3D Brno architectural building exhibition

The exhibition showcases 3D-printed buildings from 7 locations in Brno, reflecting modernist Brno architecture. It will feature: Villa Tugendhat, the Husite Church building, the Era Café, the Avion Hotel, Vesna Vocational High School for Women, the House of Two Young Men, the crematorium.

14:00 Contest – brain battle about the Czech Republic

The Embassy of the Czech Republic will host a brain battle contest for pupils in grades 9-10. Participants will face questions about the Czech Republic from various areas: history, art, culture, contemporary state, and politics.

The Embassy of the Czech Republic is organising an interactive session for pupils in grades 5-6 about the Czech Republic. The lesson will present interesting facts about this country, similarities between Lithuanian and Czech languages, contemporary popular Czech cinema, and literature.

12:00 Official opening concert of the 30th anniversary of cooperation between Kaunas and Brno

Concert “Journey from one region to another” by the military art ensemble ONDRÁŠ of the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic. Through melody, song, and dance, the ensemble presents to the audience stylised regions of the Czech Republic – Bohemia, Moravia, Silezia, as well as traditional music and dances of neighbouring countries – Slovakia, Hungary, and Romania, which are well represented in the ensemble’s repertoire.

15:00 Duo Ardašev piano recital concert

Two pianists will perform an excerpt from the classic Czech composer Bedřich Smetana’s most renowned work, the inimitable Má vlast (My Homeland), simultaneously on the same instrument.

18:00 Screening of the Czech film Baba z ledu, directed by Bohdan Slama (2017)

Awarded as the Best Czech Film of the Year 2017, winner of the Karlovy Vary Czech Lions award. The director analyses emotional and social relationships within the smallest unit of society – the family. The formation, uniqueness, and hidden internal conflicts are reflected in the narrative about a woman who, after her husband’s death, continues to faithfully help and serve the families of her adult sons.

The film is in Czech with Lithuanian subtitles.

11:30 – 19:00 Volleyball tournament between Kaunas volleyball clubs and the Brno club

The Brno city girls’ volleyball team will play in the tournament against students from the Startas Sports School of Kaunas.

11:00–17:00 Basketball tournament between Kaunas and Brno basketball clubs

The Brno Basket boys’ team will play two friendly matches against basketball teams from Kaunas.

18:00–19:30 Concert of Czech music by young performers from Kaunas

Young musicians from Kaunas will perform the most famous compositions by Czech composers. The concert will feature works by Antonin Dvorak, Frantisek Xaver Dušek, Bedrich Smetana and other famous composers.
