Citadele Kaunas Marathon is an annual, international marathon in Kaunas attracting thousands of participants.

Citadele Kaunas Marathon is for everyone, not taking into account age, profession, believes or psychical preparation. It is sports celebration, the aim of which is to reunite town citizens and enthusiasts of sport, encourage social and psychical activity, to form healthy lifestyle tradition. Event is both for professionals and amateurs.

We invite to participate all active citizens of Kaunas city and guests, seeking the life quality with the help of healthy lifestyle and activeness.

Taking into account our preparation, traditionally you can choose the prestigious distance of marathon, half of the marathon, distances of 10 or 5 kilometres. There will be special distances for kids and families.

First Kaunas Marathon was organized in Kaunas Nemunas Island in the year of 2013. In 2015 heart of the event was moved to Kaunas Old Town where stars are announced, awards are given, fair and concerts are held. In Old Town twists distances of 10 and 5 kilometres. The half circle of marathon takes place in the coasts of Neris and Nemunas rivers and crosses suburbs of Old Town, Naujamiestis, Žaliakalnis, Šilainiai. The greatest margin between the highest and lowest place in the route reaches barely 14 metres.

In 2015, route of the marathon and half of the marathon was certified by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) and Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS). Kaunas Marathon is evaluated by the European Athletic Association and was given highest five star certificate of safety.

Since 2016, for the winners of the marathon distance is given an exceptional cup that is saved in Kaunas Town Hall. For the athlete, who improved the record of marathon route distance is given additional cash prize.

2016 and 2018, at the time of the event is organized the championship of Lithuania’s Marathon. This marathon will return to the city almost after half of a century.

In 2017, general sponsor of Kaunas Marathon became Citadele bank and official title of the event was changed to Citadele Kaunas Marathon.

Come not only to try your strength, to support running friends and family, but also to spend time together meaningfully and happily. Here are various events organized, concerts, fairs, lectures will be given, as well as practises, and the information on the benefit of the psychical activity will be spread.
