A. Juozapavičiaus Avenue is important connection in Kaunas city street network. The avenue section of 2.6 km length from Karaliaus Mindaugo Avenue to Panemunės Bridge which is one of the main branches for arrival and departure from the city centre was reconstructed. With reconstruction, street throughput was increased, a running part was widened up to 14 m, new asphalt-concrete covering was laid, as well as pavement, lighting, rain run-off, sewage, water supply networks, traffic signs, traffic lights were installed, and trees which obstructed visibility and prevented safe departure from nearby territories were removed. The conditions for blind persons were improved: stops of public transport were covered with special tiles assisting blind persons as a guide without need of accompanying persons. A number of production, trading and small business companies is established in A. Juozapavičiaus Avenue. The avenue upgrade has increased its attractiveness for business; now it attracts more customers, city’s image has improved.
